Dear Friends - Our friend Sanjay Kumar Thakur (class of 94-98) passed away last month after a long fight against cancer. Sanjay went to IIT-K and IIM-L, and worked with HCL and Accenture for 3-4 yrs after IIML. Thereafter he left his job to start his own firm Infoinnovation in Bangalore. This was doing quite well and he set up a center in Mysore too. Things were going smooth for him...

...when suddenly in Oct 2008, he was detected with colo-rectal cancer (ironically this was just a few days after his father-in-law succumbed to cancer. Sanjay and his wife werecaring for him at that time). The next few months were tumultuous...he underwent a colonoscopy, and had further rounds of chemotherapy and radiation treatment going up to April 2009. His follow up checks in Jun 2009 and Dec 2009 showed good progress.

However when he went for his follow up check in Jun 2010, things had turned drastically worse. The cancer had matastasized (spread all over) and was already Stage IV. Allopathy did not offer any curative options for cancer at this stage. The doctors have pretty much thrown up their hands and could only offer palliative care. No other treatment option (ayurveda, homeo, new trial medicines, reiki etc) seem to be working either.
He took on a partner when he was diagnosed with the disease and was trying to sell his stake when things turned terminal. He is survived by his parents, wife Tapati (who quit her job in HR to support him through all this) and 2 yr old son Tanish.

As his friends, we feel helpless that we could not fight the disease, but we felt that the least we could do was to secure the future of his family, particularly his son's education. It is with this purpose that we are reaching out to the alumnii to raise a fund. We now bank upon you to rise up and help out.
