Lecture Series The Lecture Series section displays the various lectures series that are initiated at IIT Kanpur. Lectures are deliver to the Institute academic community, so that they can share the excitement of research with others. Majority of them have been initiated with the help of alumni.

GUIDELINES FOR DISTINGUISHED LECTURES SERIES

1. The responsibility for organizing the lectures under the distinguished lecture series including the identification and invitation to the speakers will be with the Head of the concerned department/ programme. The Head will ensure that the total cost of organizing these lectures including the traveling expenses of speakers and honorarium does not exceed the amount of yearly interest received from the endowment of US$ 10,000.

2. The responsibility for organizing the 'Umang Gupta Distinguished Alumni Lecture Series' will be with the Secretary, Alumni Association. He will identify and invite distinguished alumni for lectures under this series. He will ensure that the total cost for organizing one lecture in each semester does not exceed the amount of interest received from the endowment of US$ 15,000. Similarly, Dean R&D Prof C N Rao Lecture Series.

3. DRPG will arrange to advance the required amount to the Heads/ Secretary, AA so that the traveling and other expenses can be covered.

4. The Alumni office will arrange to get suitable silver plagues made for the speakers. For this purpose the name and designation of the speaker and the date of lecture should be informed to the Alumni Office at least three weeks in advance. The cost of plague will be reimbursed to the Alumni Office by DRPG.

5. The speakers may be provided traveling expenses as per IITK norms. In addition they will receive full hospitality at the Institute Guest House.

6. The speakers may be given an honorarium of Rs 5000/- (Rupees five thousand only).

7. DRPG will follow up and ensure that, as committed, one lecture in each semester under the distinguished lecture series is organized.

8. DRPG will keep the donor informed about the activities under the distinguished lecture series.
