Details of the award

The Distinguished Alumnus Award (DAA) is the highest award given by the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur to its alumni in recognition of achievements of exceptional merit. Nominations for the DAA 2011-2012 can be made by alumni, faculty of IITK, Head or an appropriate person of the organization where the concerned alumnus/alumna has been working. Nominations MUST accompany the details of the activities undertaken and outstanding achievements/contributions made by the nominee in a given pursuit or various pursuits. A few examples of activities for which an alumnus/alumna may be nominated are :

Entrepreneurship,
Management,
Professional Excellence &
Academic Excellence
Service of the society at large

The Evaluation Committee for recommending the Award, as approved by the BOG, IIT/K, comprises of the following :

Director, IIT/K (Chairman),
An Industrialist/Manager, (Member)
The Dean of Students Affairs at IITK, (Member)
The Dean of Resource Planning & Generation at IITK, (Member)
One nominee of the BOG, (Member)
One non-alumnus faculty member of IIT/K (Member)
Secretary of the Alumni Association (Member-Secretary)

Self-nominations are discouraged. Nominations giving the :

(a) the name,
(b) the degree obtained,
(c) the discipline,
(d) the year of graduation and
(e) detailed accounts of contributions made in the chosen area of activity

should be sent directly to -

(a) The Director, IIT Kanpur or
(b) The Secretary, Alumni Association, 206,Outreach 69 & 80 Building, IIT Kanpur, Kanpur, 208016.

The last day for submitting the nominations is November 15, 2011.
