Among the key speakers there were industrialists like Infosys Co-founder, Mr. N R Narayana Murthy, ITC Chairman Mr. Y C Deveshwar, Tata Sons Director Mr. R Gopalkrishnan, Microsoft India MD Mr. Bhaskar Pramanik, HCL Infosystems CEO Mr. Harsh Chitala and many other luminaries, top corporate executives and entrepreneurs. There were quite a few KGPians whose sessions' were very well received, these were Arvind Kejriwal, Harish Hande, Film-maker and NASA scientist Bedabrata Pain and many more. The event was attended by more than 1500 IITians from across the world, many with their families. Faculty, students and staff of many IITs were showcasing their respective Institutes.
The PanIIT Global Conference 2012, with its central focus on nation-building, as the IITians has immense potential to meet the long the long-term challenges to boost our economy.
Inaugural session “The Transformational Strategies for India” was chaired by industrialist Purnendu Chatterjee, where the US ambassador to India, Nancy Powell, ITC chairman Y.C. Deveshwar and Lord Kumar Bhattacharya (member of the British House of Lords) discussed philosophies, theories and concrete ideas on how to transform India. Ms Mamata Banerjee wooed “the golden brains” of the world with a bag full of Bengal’s trademark chaal (rice), cha (tea) and handicrafts at the inauguration.
During “The future of clean politics” session chaired by Mr. Arjun Malhotra, Social activist turned politician Arvind Kejriwal, IIT Kharagpur alumnus, talked about the anti-corruption movement under Anna Hazare and about the reason of why he come into politics. Nisha Singh, Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon councilor, Somnath Bharti, founder partner of Bharti & Associates, and Mustan Tambawala
(BT/CHE/1974) were other speakers. In “Harnessing world class Technologies for millions” session Mr. Narayan Murthy (MT/EE/69) addressed the gathering along with Mr. R Gopalakrishnan. “Contribution of IITians in Civil Administration of India” saw Mr Dharamvir (MSc2/Phy/69) and current BOD member participate in the session.
Four senior alumni – Arjun Malhotra, Charanpreet Singh, Debdas Sen and Prithwis Mukherjee – with the help of 4 Accomplished Student Debaters took on debating on the topic “IITians Make Poor Leaders”
Prof. Indranil Manna, the newly appointed Director of IIT Kanpur addressed the IITK alumni during Interactive Session of IIT Directors with their respective IIT Alumni.
Alumni Association, IIT Kanpur had contributed extensively for the success of this PAN IIT Global conference, right from disseminating information, requesting alumni to register, showcasing the services being provided to IITK alumni and distributing souvenirs to the delegates. The IITKAA BOD members Prof. Sudhir Misra, Mr. Salil Dave and Mr. Dharam Vir along with some office staff members attended the meet. The Baton Passed on for PanIIT Global Conference 2013 in Houston.

IIT Kanpur New York Office
The Board of Governors, IIT Kanpur have approved the establishment of IIT Kanpur overseas office to be headquartered in New York, NY, USA. The office is located on 62 William Street directly adjacent to Wall Street in the Financial District of New York City. The office space (ca. 2000 sq ft) has been generously provided to the institute by its alumnus, Sanjiv Khosla (BT/CS/1986). Mr. Khosla has also agreed to advise and assist in coordinating the activities of the office. The office will play a key role in helping the institute accomplish many of its goals. Most of our faculty and donation from alumni comes from North America. NYC office will help reach out to potential faculty and play a networking role in the hiring process and helping address their concerns. The NYC office will also help coordinate the fund raising activities of the institute in North America. With the help of this office, the institute hopes to strengthen and broaden collaborations with several industries based in US. NYC office can play a major role in establishing links with universities and industries across North America and help arrange internships and jobs for students. The office will act as an overseas hub for IIT Kanpur connecting alumni network, potential faculty network, universities network, industry/companies network, venture network and others to aid and assist IIT Kanpur and its faculty and students.
IIT Kanpur NOIDA Extension Center, Foundation Laying ceremony
The institute had acquired 5 acres of land in Noida sometime ago with the aim of making a small convention center there for supporting outreach activities. The plans for the center are now ready and the Foundation Laying ceremony took place on December 4, 2012 in Sector 62, Noida.
