Dear Friends -
Dr. Nachiketa Tripathi, PhD/HSS/96)Associate Professor, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, IIT Guwahati
has been diagnosed with liver cirrhosis with ascites since June 2011.
He has made consultations with specialized hospitals/doctors at Delhi and Hyderabad and have
been advised to go for liver transplant surgery urgently.
For the last couple of months, he has been getting admitted frequently to the Intensive Care Units and/or Emergency
Wards of local (in Guwahati) and/or Delhi hospitals whenever his conditions have
deteriorated and have to undergo various kinds of tests/procedures. have consulted one of the specialized hospitals of Delhi dealing with liver
related ailments.
However, looking at his present physical and clinical conditions, he has been
advised to consult a specialized hospital in Singapore for treatment and/or possible liver
transplant surgery. The transplant surgery at Singapore is likely to cost close to Rs. 100 lakhs.
A large portion of his personal resources have already been spent in the last 6
months or so on treatment. Even while IIT Guwahati has tried to help him out to the extent possible
as per the existing rules of the Institute and the colleagues at IIT Guwahati have extended
help of around Rs. 6 lakhs, the deficit in the funds required to plunge into the transplant
surgery is still enormous.
He seeke the blessings of each and every members of the Alumni Association of
IIT Kanpur to tide over this crisis and request a generous helping hand from the
Association on priority basis at this critical moment in his life
